Well, we're down to less than 2 weeks until the wedding! After all this time with Dustin, I finally pulled one over on him last night and surprised him at a wrestling fundraiser. (I had called his mom, Kristy, that day so someone in the family knew I was coming.) One of the main purposes of the 250-mile trip was to get his signature on our marriage license application, and to spend some last-minute quality time with him before we say 'I DO'!
After I arrived at the High School, Kristy and Don met me at the door. They pointed me in the direction of his where-a bouts and I started to approach him. Clueless of my presence behind him, he continued to play Craps. I put my hand on his lower back and said, "How you doing?" He turned around just enough to see say, "oh pretty good," then returned his attention back to the table. He immediately turned back around and then realized it was me and I got a kiss from a VERY surprised man! I couldn't believe that I had done it, I completely surprised him! Typically, I'm so excited to see him, that even if my intentions were to surprise him, I end up telling him anyway that I'm coming or send a text saying I'm 20 minutes away or something!
We spent today running some errands and spending some time together. Dustin ran some movies back to Movie Gallery while I put together a home-made pizza for dinner. I've come to realize I'm needing some practice with this cooking thing, eeek! He returned with 'Love Happens', a chick flick. =) Heading back to Kansas tomorrow to finish up on the last minute to-do's for the wedding and to continue helping my wonderful parents prepare their house for them to move in. Fingers-crossed they will have everything to thier liking prior to the wedding weekend!
I'm still trying to find my wonderful bridesmaids something special as their gifts for the wedding. Took my gown to David's Bridal to have it steamed and pressed a final time! We're contemplating a good room arrangement for the reception, but we'll find a solution eventually! Centerpiece materials are ordered and will be put together soon. Wedding bands have been picked up. Now, trying to sort through cloths to take to Maui and all the essentials - not to forget we only get a quart-size bag for all 3-oz. or smaller liquid or gel items in our luggage.
Recently, my parents are proud new owners of a new house! We've been painting every surface in the house trying to get rid of the smoke-smell from the previous owners. Mom had the privilege of purchasing new bedroom and living room furniture, she's VERY excited about it! I'm so happy for my parents and hope they can enjoy the house and peaceful new surroundings!
Before I know it, Dustin and I will be happily married and on our way to Hawaii - life can't possibly get any better than this!

Lindsey's Baby Shower
One of my very good friends, Lindsey, is expecting a baby girl in May, Sophia Jane! I'm so glad I was able to make it to her shower! The shower began with a little contest between mom-to-be and grandma-to-be. They were to change a dirty diaper, dress the baby, and then wrap the baby up in a blanket. First one done wins.. it was VERY interesting!
Turns out there were mashed peas and mashed carrots in the diapers... I think Kathleen got the mashed carrots! I love the expression!

Handmade quilt of course, brown and pink, fit for a girl!
Unsure if you can read it, but it says, "This is my little black dress". Adorable!
Destiny is sure having a great time -- her mom, Kaleena, tied a bow from a gift on her head.. it was made of toule.
What a cute idea! One of Lindsey's good friends Bre, had this cute idea. She pinned on all the cloths she got for Lindsey on a ribbon -- Lindsey didn't know when the cloths were going to stop coming out of the bag!
These precious burp cloths were made out of cloth diapers. Cute ribbons were simply sewed on for a little added touch -- I gave my mom a subtle hint that these would be perfect for a future grandchild!
Kaleena, Lindsey and I posed for a quick picture before we all parted ways. Not to worry, we'll all be back together for our wedding in three short weeks!

Shower #2
The second shower was at Don & Kristy's church -- such wonderful people!

Dustin and I were asked several questions about each other to see how well we know each other... turns out, we know each other quite well! If we didn't get matching answers, we had to put a piece of bubble gum in our mouth... what a fun game to test our knowledge!
Wedding Showers

Hello
Greetings! Hoping this blog will keep everyone up to date with the latest happenings about Dustin and I. First and foremost, we're getting married in three short weeks! We'll be living in Rogersville, Missouri after the wedding and honeymoon. Dustin currently teaches in the Logan-Rogersville School District. He's the Head Wrestling Coach and the Assistant Middle School Football Coach. I recently completed my Elementary Education degree from FHSU and trying to pursue employment where it's available.
I can't begin to explain the emotions I'm feeling right now! Excitement always comes first, but then the nerves kick in and I begin wondering if everything is going to fall into place for the wedding. It's overwhelming to think everyone will be focused on me, (and Dustin, of course, HA) on the big day. I'm not one to be in the spotlight, but one that stands back and enjoys things from a distance. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic to soon be Mrs. Martin!
Everyone has been so gracious to us in many ways. We've had great friends and family give us three wonderful bridal showers. It's amazing how many people contributed to the showers, some of whom we hardly knew. Thank you so much to everyone who have helped make the showers a success -- we truly appreciate you!
